If I prepay an Oyster card for a months travel pass would it be cheaper than pay as you go using lots of buses and tubes over the next month?
I thought somebody said there is a cp the same as a prepaid monthly?

You don't use an Oyster card for travel by car.
Try asking a mod to move it to Public Transport.0 -
You will need to do the maths. Oyster fares are the same as contactless payments on a debit card, but there is a daily cap on the oyster charges that you might hit if you use "lots of buses & tubes" in one day, making the oyster card cheaper.

Isn’t there a cap on debit/credit cards also? You will need to do the maths. Oyster fares are the same as contactless payments on a debit card, but there is a daily cap on the oyster charges that you might hit if you use "lots of buses & tubes" in one day, making the oyster card cheaper.

Just touch in/out with a debit card as you go. If you make enough journeys whereby a month's card would be cheaper, it'll just charge you that.
The point of PAYG is that it'll always work out the cheapest ticket for you.0 -
Why would anybody ever pay upfront?Supersonos wrote: »Just touch in/out with a debit card as you go. If you make enough journeys whereby a month's card would be cheaper, it'll just charge you that.

Well contactless does not cap monthly so a monthly travelcard could easily turn out more economic if travelling in both peaksSupersonos wrote: »Good question and one I can't answer.
Also you will never get a maximum fare by being on the system too long
If you buy an annual travelcard you can get a gold card and get National rail discounts0
