    Is that relevant?
I'm saying 30p+/mile to barely use a rented mediocre blingmobile is anything but cheap.

Its not exactly a best seller, how many left shows less than 2000 TSI SE's registered (upto Q2 2019).

How many of those are 1L engines?

Compare that to 10,000 TSI SE Octavia's.

    Yup.

The "best" deals come up on cars they have that are perhaps stock cars that they want to dispose of and are otherwise happy to discount heavily.

Theres maybe been 100 of these sitting that VW UK have sold on to a leasing company at a preferential price, probably even with a buy back option for later.

Its a lease deal. There are specific reasons why people wish to lease a new car which have been gone over many times.

If you can find a better lease deal on a better equivalent car then great - please feel free to share it.

UK average miles is 7,900 per year.

Perhaps you dont know their market like they do?

Honest John rate the Karoq at 4 stars out of 5, and of the 1.0 engine comment "The 1.0 TSI may seem small for a car this size, but it actually works very well. The three-cylinder engine is turbocharged to deliver 115PS and has plenty of character so it's nippy around town and strong enough to keep up with fast flowing traffic."

    https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/skoda/karoq-2017/

Most other reviewers are saying similar of the Karoq - Top Gear 8/10, What Car? 5/5.

And a Skoda a "blingmobile"?

That's a good deal for someone. Depending on how heavy the model is 115 bhp may work well esp for mainly short journeys locally/around town.
It's fairly cheap on the scale of leasing however I'm also in the camp who prefer to buy used with cash.

Wife has an Arona with the same engine which is approx 200kg lighter. Performance is adequate even with four adults in the car but it certainly isn't going to particularly excite a keen driver!

Yes the general consensus is its got enough get up and go for round town work but wouldnt be ideal if you're doing a lot of long runs.

And yes, agreed, whilst i've never leased myself and my next (next week!) purchase will be by cash, i can see the appeal of this for some.

It is a pretty good deal. You can buy the car new for £18,285 (Drive the Deal) which is 16% off RRP.

To me a stonking deal is a net monthly payment of less that 100th of the new price. In this instance the monthly figure is aggregated at £198/month (deposit + (monthly x 23))/24 and as has been said miles are a little low.

So a pretty good deal worth considering but not quite sign me up now before they change their mind.

To answer the OP's question I think with the new car market looking soft at the moment their should be some very good lease deals floating around at the moment.

Always go for the deal and not the car.
