Chimney on a terraced property

I was looking after my daughter's house last week and banging started from the next door neighbours house near the chimney breast, then some debris came down the chimney.
I went outside and someone was at the joint chimney stack..
I wasn't too interested at this point as assumed they were fixing or placing an aerial.
I mentioned it to my daughter by off chance a few days later and she said she has heard what should like wind down that chimney stack in the living room and bedroom that it serves, which she said wasn't there before..
I have asked my DD to go next door and ask who was on the roof.
Do you think this person has dislodged something on the chimney or something else has occured?

“You’re only here for a short visit.
Don’t hurry, don't worry and be sure to smell the flowers along the way.”

Sounds like someone did something up tere... but who know what. Yes, ask.
Strictly speaking, as it's a shared chimney stack the enighbour should have at least advised her in advance of what they planned, or better still served a 'Party Wall Agreement'. But too late for that now.0
