    Hello all

Reporting my first spend of the month. €19.19 in Aldi. We needed more yogurts, breakfast items plus fresh bread. I must point out my girl is a snob and won’t eat normal sliced bread, or wraps or thins no it MUST BE fresh bread from the bakery section. It does mean I will be buying that most days (unless something else is planned)

    €230.81 left

first spend of the month at £18.92 / £40! I've stocked up on frozen quorn which should do me for dinner, plus lentils and stock cubes so that should do me for lunch for the month. still got some frozen veg left over from last month so that should help to keep things down a bit

  • £150 Budget Spent so far £31.84 spent petrol £40.01- bought some kitchen roll and will be shopping again today so will need to update again.

Thank you Suffolk Lass I won't count the vouchers and will see these as 'coupons' instead :) It is the focus on cash spent after all and the bargain i got the other day i wouldn't usually have bought at that time (clearance line on rice) and the vouchers just about covered it :T

Quick question - i bought kitchen roll - other than rags is there an alternative as this is an expensive spend to get quality :o

Please will you put me down for £400 for November. I did reasonably well last month but I really need to cut down further bit by bit. Part of the problem is that Mr Waite and Mr Rose's shop is 5 minutes up the road. The cheaper shops are further away across town and I am trying to reduce car journeys to cut fuel bills and pollution so I see it as more on the grocery budget = less on fuel bills and does a tiny bit to preserve air quality. I do go to A1di and L1dl if I'm in that part of town for something else but not if it's just a few groceries.
    No easy answers.

Spends so far include an Abel & Cole veg box...I won't be getting any more of those this month! I'm also trying not to have a supermarket shop this month, just buy as little as possible.
August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.
  • £27.35/£59.60 - reduced total for this month due to overspending last month, and because I'm away for a lot of it.

  • I'm in for this month please, really need to start keeping a track on the shopping budget which is creeping up and up. Budget for November is £400 .

Did a big shop today, totalling £92, and placed an m and s Christmas food order, deposit was £30. So £122/£400£122/£400 spent so far, although technically the £30 is for Christmas.

Just for info, this is for 3 adults breakfast, packed lunches and dinners. Also most weekends there are 1 or 2 extra grown up kids dropping in for dinner. I also have 2 dogs, but they have a special diet and get budgeted for seperately. Includes some toiletries, but not all and very little in the way of cleaning products as I mostly make my own.

Good luck in the challenge everyone.

So little shop done - cat food was almost £10 of the spend, got bread and trying a value price coffee - i have tried other before but not been successful in the downshift - 1 item bought not on the shopping list, but that's ok -it is an ingredient as i have been gifted a bag of fruit and veg so will be used in a recipe and fresh was needed for this. I feel like i'm doing well with the budget then see i'm almost at a 1/3rd spend a week in... Unusually have several meals out planned this month - although they all may not happen. If they do that should help with food spends although it will come out of another budget. (significant birthday celebrations).

Another £20.23 vanished today, mostly on supplies for "Do-It-Yourself" pizzas, but also some emergency flour (expected delivery hasn't yet arrived, possibly due to the appalling weather) and some mixed fruit to make mincemeat from some more of our harvested apples - the apple mountain is slowly diminishing!

The pizzas went down well; it was pure comedy gold watching OH and his twin brother trying to work out what to do with their share of the dough, and choose which toppings they a) like & b) go together. I shouldn't laugh, but it was funny; my teenage nephew had got stuck in & willingly helped with grating, chopping & prepping the toppings, but the two dads were completely out of their depth, though I suspect they were also hamming it up. However everyone ended up with something edible, amid much good-natured laughter.

The meal finished up with lashings of toffee apple ice cream - it's amazing how many apple recipes you can find if you look!

  • Hi, I've been away for a while but if like to join back in again please. We've had to get a new boiler this month as the old one has conked out for good so it's a good time to try and rein in the spends again. I'm going to go for £120 for the calendar month which should be easy as we have plenty in stores.

I've already spent £6.50 on sausages, butter and bread rolls.

I shouldn't need anything for the next couple of days until we run out of fruit. I just need to only buy what we need and nothing else and it'll all be fine. Sounds easy. 😂

    £6.50/120
