Hotel Voucher Shop

Hi, apologies if this is covered elsewhere, I have searched but couldn’t find anything.
For Christmas last year we got our daughter and her boyfriend a £80 hotel voucher through Hotel Voucher Shop. First she and the boyfriend split up then she went and worked in France all summer so hadn’t used the voucher. It ran out in December so she’s just got online to book herself a little trip away only to find that the company went bust in May! Chances of us getting any money back are slim we know but has anyone got any advice for us?
Thanks in advance, Claire

go by the information on the website
    https://www.hotelvouchershop.com
Any unredeemed voucher balances will form unsecured claims in the Liquidation, and you should contact the Joint Liquidators at hotelstay@leonardcurtis.co.uk to formally register your claim.
  • Thank you, I had already done that but I was just hoping someone a bit further ahead in the process might have some words of wisdom for us.

If it ran out in December, it was useless anyway.

There is absolutely no point in waiting to see sixpence from the liquidators, the assets appear to be £2500 and the debts, £2.3 million! More than £1.7 million of the debt is for vouchers which they sold but had yet to be used, like yours, amazing how money disappears. The only hope is if you paid by a credit card you can make a claim under s 75 of the Consumer Credit Act against your card issuer, see if you kept the statement on which it appears. Good luck

would s75 apply given that it was under £100?

If it ran out 5 months before the company went bust it would be unbelievably cheeky to put an any sort of claim for anything.

It is clearly this December it expired, one year after the purchase for Christmas last year. Many card issuers will settle small claims as it is cheaper to do so than argue for 6 months, but the liquidators notice advised people to claim against the card used in the first place, which makes me think a card was not used to pay for it in which case, time to close the file and say goodbye to the money

Maybe had the OP said "it RUNS out in December" rather than "it RAN out", it would have avoided the confusion.
