Parking charge has incorrect vehicle registration

Hi,
I've searched the boards for a similar scenario but not found one.
As the keeper of a car with a parking charge placed on windscreen for "vehicle owner/driver left site" I was planing on following the standard approach of submitting an appeal at 26 days. It was only at this point when trying to enter details on the UKPC website that I noticed that they had entered incorrect registration details on the slip. (I found out as the web form would not recognise the actual registration mark.) On entering their incorrect registration I found photos of the car with the reg plate on display so it would be easy for them to check and correct the parking charge.
So my question is: do I just continue with my original plan to submit the standard appeal template, even though they list the incorrect registration and give me no way to correct it? Or is their approach already void?
thanks

The reason for sending the standard appeal on day 26 is so the PPC fail to contact the DVLA for keeper details, so can't pursue said keeper under POFA. That is irrelevant in your case.
If they don't spot the error, they you'll never get a Notice to Keeper (someone else will). If they DO spot the error, they'll use the correct registration (from their photo), and you will get the NtK. Trouble is (for them), it will fail POFA keeper liability because [STRIKE]the details will not be the same as the Notice to Driver[/STRIKE].
So, wait till the Notice to Keeper arrives, and then send the standard NTK appeal.
This advice only stands if YOU are the registered keeper on the V5C form. If it's a company/lease/hire car or other where you are not the keeper, then it gets more complicated.
EDIT: Correction on why their NTK will fail POFA. There will never have been a Notice to Driver for the vehicle, as the notice that was attached was for a different car. Therefore the NTK will be the first notice, and should have been sent within 14 days of the event. Clearly that won't be the case.
It is suggested on these forums that the PPCs deliberately put the wrong registration on the NTD (just by one letter/digit) in an attempt to get the driver to contact the PPC, pointing out their error, and accidentally outing themselves as the driver. This is why you must not do that.0 -
Thank you that looks like good advice.
(I did search forums honest bit most responses were related to people mis-keying registration details fr their tickets rather than companies getting registration wrong.)0 -

I highly doubt they will join up the dots in time to get the NTK to you by day 56.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The trouble with appealing to the NTD on day 26 is that you are appealing as keeper of the vehicle mentioned on the ticket, whereas in fact you are not (as the registration is for a different vehicle). I am wondering where it will all end up, and at what point you have to tell the PPC they got it wrong. This is all just my opinion, and I don't want to confuse the OP. But I don't want it to end up being messy for them either.0 -

The motor insurers database MID (paid access) will indicate whether the incorrect reg actually exists and is registered to another vehicle. In which case the arguments just get better - albeit still technical.0 -
Nine times out of ten of these tickets are scams so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra work.
Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.
Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking CompaniesYou never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

Thanks everyone - I have gone with The Slithy Tove's advice to "wait till the Notice to Keeper arrives, and then send the standard NTK appeal."
Also thanks to KeithP - I used MOT checker to identify that there is a car that actually matches the incorrect registration so that should throw them off. (also spent some time looking up the history of every car I ever owned - thanks!)0 -
Final update - just got letter back from UKPC confirming that the parking charge has been cancelled.
Thanks everyone again. Very please with this result.0 -
Jolly good, UKPC seem to not bother to continue when they see the forum appeal!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
