MoveCorp removals went into liquidation before delivering my shipment

We moved from the UK to Bangkok in July and only took receipt of our shipment last weekend (end of Oct). I'd found out about Movecorp's situation a couple of weeks before that and paid the shipping company they were using just so we could get things moving again after such a long wait. We are trying to recover this through our bank and I've been in touch with the BAR as recommended by the useful member above in this thread.
Our problem now is this: our 10-month-old TV we paid £800 pounds for arrived in bits. We'd insured it through Movecorp for the value of £700 and I have emails to this effect; however, I was never sent an insurance certificate from Movecorp, which the insurance company is now asking for. Does anyone know if I am likely to recover this cost as we've had to go out and buy another TV?0 -
HI Wessy, I am so sorry to hear that you are also in this predicament. Like you, I gave Movecorp a costed Valued Inventory before the move, and this is what what was provided to the Insurers.
I also did not receive an Insurance certificate and when I requested one from the Insurers last week, I was informed that they do not issue individual policies, it is done on a Block policy. However, what was most alarming, an unknown to me, is that apparently the Company Movecorp have excesses applied to any claim. The Claimant has to pay the first £50 of any claim, and Movecorp themselves have opted to pay a £2500 excess on any claim!!! The Accountants dealing with the Liquidation have informed me that it is extremely unlikely that I will receive a penny on my nearly £3,000 Claim as they believe the company is probably insolvent, however I am waiting for confirmation of this. The deadline for registering as a Creditor was last Thursday I'm afraid, so it probably doesn't look that promising for either of us. If you wish me to update you, I will. Best regards.0 -
I will have to pay for my items to be delivered from Movecorp in Walsall to my house in London, if anybody would want to join me, we could share the cost, as I just have very few items, but I still have to pay for a van to deliver them to me.0

Good to hear you're getting it sorted and thanks for the feedback on the best options.nikhil2112 wrote: »Even still, it seems to me that now my items are being held as a form of "hostage" while the 2 companies sort out payment issues between themselves - even though (a) they are my personal belongings, and (b) I have done my part of the bargain and paid in full.0

under a new name of Nationwide Removals and Storage Limited.
Same premises, same vans, same people still driving round in their flash cars.
Totally wrong that anyone can leave people in trouble yet carry on the day after liquidation doing the same things all over again. You look at his Facebook profile all smug, well off in his nice house, it just should not be allowed.0
