Half Day Holiday Rules
Comments
-
There is a simple solution to use up holiday as the regulations are based on 5 day weeks with max 28 days.
Go to a 6 day week and pay 1 day a week using the holiday.
That would use up a few days till holiday year end.
There is always the option to carry over 1.6weeks (8 days) to use up some more.
Then look at ways to avoid the same problem next holiday year.0 -
If the overtime is regular / required, doesn't that also increase their holiday entitlement? ???Signature removed for peace of mind0

From an employers perspective it is best not to mess around trying to be clever, even with the best of intentions, and just make sure that people take their holiday.0 -

Our employees do get average overtime included in their holiday pay, yes.
From the sounds of it we will just have to force the employee to take his holiday as normal, which is fine by me but he was hoping to get a little bit extra out of it.0 -

Literally no idea what you read to get to that conclusion0 -

A couple of posters seem to be saying that taking holiday the 'normal' way is the safest option. Obviously if there's no issue with the employee doing overtime and taking a half day then I'd opt for that, but there seems to be a bit of a grey area here.0 -

Getmoreforless told you the best way if you are happy to pay the extra money
Holiday entitlement does not go up once someone works 5 days a week, its the same regardless if they work 6 days a week.
But frankly if it were me I would just pay it on top and keep it between you and the employeeDon't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0
