Openreach wayleave

Hi guys , wondering if you can help me, I own the property where I live for the past 8 years ,I need to have a new drive way done infront of my house and I realized the I'm having a Openreach junction manhole within my property boundaries that would create a bit of a problem because is way high compared to the rest of the ground where the drive need to be created. I would like to add that I don't use their services and never had a wayleave agreement with them and in the past some of their engineers have come and asked permission to acces it . What is the way to go? First .. asking them to relocate it I don't think is going to happen....Second could they lower it maybe....
Third...if I ask for a wayleave agreement to be made can I ask for backdated payment ? What Openreach pays for wayleave acces ? Thanks

When you say you don't use their services - you don't have a landline connected at all? Not for broadband or telephone?

Getting them to make changes to suit you can be done, but you'll get handed a beefy bill.

You might not have had the wayleave payment, but a previous owner may have. However, Openreach don't go out of their way to pay, so you might be lucky. It was a one-off: £150 when I received mine in 2012 for a single pole that had not been registered with them for 5 years.

The service engineers who visit from time to time won't know if there's a wayleave in place or not; they're simply being polite. As one of the essential services, Openreach can access their equipment at all times, with or without the landowner's permission.

If you are creating a new driveway, Openreach will not move or alter any of their gear without payment, because it is you creating the need for change; it's as simple as that. How much they charge,I can't say, but they're not anywhere near as efficient as the power companies when changing poles. We've had both here in the last few years.

Well, Openreach provide the line pretty much whoever you are with unless it is Virgin.

Openreach are the blanket "last mile" supplier, unless you're on Virgin cable.

If you were in the Hull area, it wouldn't be Openreach, but then it wouldn't be Openreach...
