Fraudulent Amex transaction - any link to Google Pay?
Comments

Unless you have consented to this I would say it was totally unacceptable for GPay to be accessing your Amex account in this manner, extracting information from it and displaying it to you.
It's clearly Amex providing the information to GPay.
I doubt my transactions are that interesting to Google. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

No, they would likely already have provided it.
GPay, like Apple Pay is transparent, the processor won't ask for permission each time or it'd completely fall apart compared to paying via card.0 -
I just found this on the support pages for GPay:
"Whenever you pay for something using Google Pay, you'll get a notification on your device when the payment is done.
American Express cardholders: You'll also get a notification on your device if you pay for something using one of your physical cards stored in Google Pay. You'll only see notifications for cards you added to Google Pay."

Google Pay showing all Amex transactions is an optional feature

Google wouldn't know the transaction is taking place as they use a virtual card number on GPay transactions - it must therefore be getting pushed from Amex unilaterally. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Well thank god Mastercard does not have that option.
Makes you wonder if Google use the same back office as Amex and is why they can get Non Google transactions pushed to show in google pay.
In effect it is a open banking agreement. Amazing what you agree to when you move that slider.
That info will be like gold dust to a information junkie like google.
Anyone know if Apple Pay has the same option on ANY card?Life in the slow lane0
