Scottish Power - MPAN removal
HI all,
I currently have a complaint open with SP on behalf of my parents. They aren't the most switched on so I'm helping them out with a problem they have.
Without realising until recently, they have been getting billed for a 2nd meter which they do not have. The bills always have an estimate reading and i believe have a standing charge attached to it as well.
I started the complaint with SP back in March of this year, asking them to remove it from their account. After a lot of to-ing and fro-ing and proving that the meter is in fact not in the property they told me that they would pass it on to there off-shore team to get the meter removed from the national database. Once this is done, I believe SP can remove the meter from my address/account? My parents can finally get their bills regenerated and 100s pound should be refunded back to them.
This has taken a ridiculous amount of time and I've been given a load of waffle by the customer complaints/service team. I've been told that the on multiple occasions that my complaint had been escalated then later found out that this wasn't the case at all. I've also had the complaint closed twice for no apparent reason.
Is there someone else I can speak to regarding getting the 2nd meter removed from the national database as it seems SP don't want to do it due to the big refund my parents are due.
Many thanks,
M

This sounds like exactly the same problem I am having.
After trying to switch suppliers to my new property and much toing and froing and investigation I have concluded that I have been been being billed on estimated readings for a meter that doesn't exist although the mpan still does. An absolute nightmare and entirely the fault of Scottish Power it looks like.
Unfortunately someone switched the supply away from Scottish Power. I'm 3 months in and have no idea when this will be sorted or who to ask to sort it out.
As per M above I would like to know who to speak to to get this 2nd meter and its mpan removed from the database.0 -

Thank you for joining MSE to reinforce this advice.
You are effectively on your own. Best you can do is employ the services of someone who can professionally advise you in this matter, then get a professional to carry out the work necessary, prior to instructing your current supplier to change the meter. Your supplier will probably charge you for the non-essential change of the meter.
