Gladstone Brookes

Options
Hi all. I’ve been a happy customer of Gladstone Brookes for a while now.

My question is this. I recently received a letter from them saying that another PPI may have been found. Rather than phone the unusual 0333 number on the letter, I phoned the number on their Facebook page. I was transferred through to someone and when I lost my signal, they phoned me back (from an 0333 number) where we completed the call.

Being aware of scams and such, I just wanted to know if anyone knows whether Gladstones are still trading (as they finish off claims in the pipeline) and whether the 0333 number is genuine. I just want to know before I sign any papers when they arrive.

I’m sure it’s all above board and that Gladstones have simply farmed our their call centre to deal with residual stuff. Any insight would be appreciated.

Cheers
Pete

Why not just process the complaint yourself and save the fee?

As for being a ‘happy customer’, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that written of a CMC unless it’s actually come from someone working for then.

They are still trading and will be more than happy to part you with more fistfuls of cash for applying a stamp to a letter for you

there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)

Thanks for the info re trading. Yes...I must be the first happy customer you have heard of...so, it can happen after all!

    Many thanks for replying.

If you don’t mind my asking, what is it you’re so happy about with them? I’m interested in how one can be happy that someone’s taking a large portion of redress for something you’ve done 95% of the leg work on

You are easily satisfied. I bet you wouldn't be if you realised just how little a CMC actually does.

    Concerns here are:
1 - We are past the deadline to raise a complaint
2 - Did you give them permission to contact other lenders to see if PPI was held?

In respect of point 2, they cant just keep contacting lenders every x months. Letter of authorities expire and they are not meant to contact lenders without a valid LOA. So, did you give this permission?
If you didn't then it could be that GB are being victims of a clone scam. GB have an 0800 number on their website. Not an 0333 number

No, I don’t mind at all.

If I pay someone for a service and they do a good job, then I’m very happy. Being on the phone once and signing 8 bits of paperwork was the level of effort I was prepared to go to in order to get my money.

I could fix my car if I had the time and inclination...but I prefer to pay a mechanic.

Hi and thanks for replying. Yes...the PPI claim relates to one I started earlier. I was just a little unsure because of the phone number, which is why I rang the number on their website. Everything looks ok to me, but my post was really to see how Gladstone’s are now operating since the PPI deadline. Thanks.

Do you call the AA out to change your air freshener too?

But they are not "mechanics". Claim Firms have no special knowledge, experience or powers and basically put a stamp on the envelope containing your complaint.

Of far more concern is why your Claim Firm is still offering to represent you in PPI complaints when the deadline was in August??

Presumably it’s a pre-deadline info request that’s been auto converted into a complaint, at which point you’re signing a form to agree to give GB a cut of your money for now doing *even less* than they used to.

    Mechanics indeed.

OP is now an "archived user" I see?

Obviously he did not receive the response he wanted or expected...
