Toilet Seat Hinges

Hi
So our toilet seat has started moving around and coming off its hinges.
I have taken it off but can't work out what to do with these two nuts on the toilet itself.
Do they come out and I can put a different seat instead, I tried unscrewing them but nothing happened, the bottom black part also started turning around.

Any help would be appreciated

What do the hinges on the seat look like ?I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Did the hinges screw into those bolts? If so you'll need to put them on and keep them tight, then unscrew the nuts underneath. For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0

The nuts you can see are on inserts that sit inside the toilet and expand when the nuts are tightened. If the whole thing just turns, it may be loose enough to remove it. Don't throw them away.
What make is the toilet? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

We did the same. Couldn't work out how the seat was held on as there was no way to access the underside of the fittings, great video on Youtube helped enormously.Make £2025 in 2025

Hi
Thank you everyone for your replies, I have not idea what make of the seat is, it was there when we bought the house.
I have managed to put the seat back as it has Allen key screw that tightens onto this nut.
I have tried to loosen these nuts using a Allen key but they just turned and started to turn the lower part as well, I do not mind taking these out and putting new ones as I am worried these might seize..
Any links to the YouTube videos or just what you searched for, if not I'll take a look at YouTube as soon as I get a chance
Once again thank you everyone for the replies.0 -
