    We are buying and selling, using the same estate agent for both as the house we are buying was up with the same estate agent that has now ceased trading.

    Good news that they are communicating with you, at least. On the above point, I'm sure you are aware but just to state the obvious: Do make sure you hang onto those funds, they will come due to someone at some point, once the wrangling has been resolved.
