Money Moral Dilemma: Should I tell hotel staff the vending machine is dispensing free snacks?

This is no different than walking into a shop taking from the counter and walking out without paying.

I just happen to find it frustrating that mse employees have time on their hands to start threads which can, at best, only advise the anonymous OP (if there ever was one) but never get a response. Surely they could be more gainfully employed perhaps helping the board guides.

i remember when i was around 14-15 and on a family hol to alcudia.

my younger brother was still in a pram on occasion. and we happened across this drink machine, semi secluded. we used it as normal and it gave us the euro or whatever it was back.

so we tried again, and got us all a "free" drink, then thought nothing of it,

for the next week or so we had many a free drink, and even loaded up the pram to take back to have later - and gave cans to anyone we bumped into! estimate around 50 cans at least we had!


no regrets. no point in being holier than thou! it was low level theft yes.

But this isn't the Shopping thread it is the Money Moral Dilemma thread. It is still a stupid and pointless question but they all are these days.

Just be honest and tell them there is a problem with the machine. If you put money in and got nothing out you would soon tell them then!!

While I'm sure the hotel chain is making adequate profits from its services, are you quite sure that the vending machine isn't franchised to another, altogether different, business that has nothing to do with it?

The moment the machine empties, which shouldn't be long at the present rate, someone somewhere will alert the supplier and the fault will be discovered if and when a competent individual does his or her job properly.

I doubt very much whether whatever you decide to do will make a difference, as the machine could already have been emptied as I write, and there's no way the supplier is going to know who walked off with what. It will just have to write the cost of the contents off.
