sky plus box problem

:mad: i was happy watching a program when my sky plus box goes into standby mode now i cannot get out of standby mode(a red light on a thomson box) i rang sky they weren't too helpfull ? £ 65 call fee for a engineer is there anything i can do ? thats get the skyplus box out of standby ??? please help or do i need a new sky plus box

i had the same problem and told by a sky engineer to switch all power off for 2 minutes remove card and wipe ( static build up ) switch back on and it worked for me

i try probation idea but no still didnt work

try by doing a update on the software on the box by
1) turn box of at wall
2) press backup and hold on the box NOT REMOTE
3) turn power on when stil holding backup
4) when all four lights turn on let go of the backup button and let it do its thing
5) once its done leave it for about a minute then try powering the box up if that don't work try

1) turn power off
2) hold the left and right arrows on the box then turn box on then press the select button and the play will go back ward but it will delete everything on the box and once its stopped if its got the green light the hard drive is ok if the red one it means you need either a new hard drive or get sky out

I've had this in the past.

Normally just switch the power off at the mains and leaving it for a couple of minutes sorts it out.

Then when you turn it on, leave it for afew mins to sort it self out and then it should start working.

thank you i try all your ideas i am sure that the hard drive is !!!!!!ed as box is still in standby mode !!!

How long you had the box m8,if its less than a year tell them its still under warranty.

If its not just say right im cancelling my subscription they will sharp change their mind about the call out charge.
