When did they fit this Credit meter ??
The day of the switch is how it reads .

How many hours later did you get power back on ?
Sounds like a smart meter to me which switched to prepay mode.
  • did you have any credit in hand with Eversmart when they closed ?

you also mention dd "upon meter readings "

do you have a smart meter ?

Yeah i had a smart meter but Eversmart never took control of it, so i'd supplied initial readings to them.

As Molerat says, yeah its a smart meter that switched to a prepay by mistake

JJ Egan - 6 hours after i discovered it was off, but not sure how long it had been off before that as i'd been at work all day

I am surprised your freezer contents spoiled in such a short space of time. We often have power cuts that last all day.

"Full Freezer: A full freezer will keep temperature for about 48 hours. Half-Full Freezer: The timeline drops down to 24 hours if your freezer is not full. Try to group the foods close together so they stay colder longer"

Nope no credit that i believe although i had just paid a £44 DD 2 days before they closed
  • This is a little baffling as the OP by the sound of it had an ex smart meter which was a dumb meter when they were with Eversmart. No supplier would have "control of it ", either Eversmart or Utilita.
When a smart meter is first moved from the original supplier who fitted it, its set in credit mode and that is where it stays.
Until the DCC gets smart switching in operation , any supplier wanting to move the meter to prepay mode would have to change the meter to whatever smart meter they use and set it in prepayment meter mode.
How this meter, probably a Secure Liberty 100 meter, ended up electronically moving into prepay mode is a mystery, Eversmart can t do it, neither can Utilita . Unless the DCC is in operation now !

I do recall a thread on this about a year ago from the same supplier. When the poster "switched" at some point during the switch the supplies were 'cut' :( , not something I'd want to experience myself. I though remote disconnection was not permitted.

I can't find the thread but I've only had a cursory search for it.

I don't think in that case they were without power for long but a supplier imo should not just "cut power" because you've left them, any monies due for energy used in the mean time can easily be worked out from meter readings and sent to the appropriate companies.
