New front door problem

18 months ago, my son bought and had fitted a new Navy Blue composite front door costing £1200 , and was really pleased with it. In June he noticed that some of the blue colouring was coming off the door, showing the white grain beneath. In August the company who supplied and fitted the door came out to have a look, they said there was a 10yr manufacturers guarantee ,and that they would be back in touch. The door now is getting worse with more of the blue colouring coming off , and every phone call to the supplier comes back with the same answer that they are waiting to hear from the manufacturer, however they will not say who the manufacturers is. My son says hes waited long enough for something to be done . What are his rights and what should be his next move , thank you.

Does it not say anywhere on the door who the manufacturer is? Has he looked on the side of the door by the hinges to see if anything is stamped there?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

There will be a manufacturer logo/name on any piece of ironmongery for the door, i.e hinges, keeps, even the underside of the letterbox flap. Failing that, all doors have manfucaturing information on either the hinge side of the door as mentioned above or on the top edge - however it is usually a sticker that is/can be removed prior to installation.
Aside from this, the sale was through the door supplier, let them do the leg work for the manufacturer's guarantee and keep chasing them. Ask to speak to the joinery manager or sales manager to escalate.
EDIT: Also, take pictures and send them to the supplier for the attention on the sales rep or manager if you do manage to get their work email.0 -
