Quilted polyester mattress and pillow protector. If he finds these are supplied, and they look half-decent, my DH can bring it back again. But I've been using these on the beds since they were young, and I KNOW where our pillows and mattresses have been!
I'd especially urge this for anyone whose son/daughter suffers from asthma/eczema.
Still playing hunt the cheese-slicer!
Well my youngest is off on Saturday as well. I've tried pinning him down (not literally!) to make a list of what he wants to take etc but he's hardly been home all week! I got a piece of paper given to me yesterday morning as he disappeared - again - asking for these items to be bought. Well looks as though he's only going to have a shower and eat!
As for the mattress and pillow protectors and pillow etc. they were the first things on my list for him! Yes I succumbed and sat up last night making a quick list - only two pages long - just for my benefit that he's got enough stuff to start off with.
He went out Tuesday to do some clothes shopping. He said he needed jumpers as he only has one .............ten hours later he returned home. Three jumpers, pair of trainers (will never last in wet weather) and coat he needed. Well I called it a summer lightweight one - but then I'm his Mum! I did say it does rain and is pretty cold in Sheffield so he said he'd buy another jumper! Got to laugh at them or else you'd sit down and worry like hell if they are OK - which you know full well they will be.......................:)
Happy safe journeys everyone travelling on Saturday!
Oh and he went out yesterday morning and isn't home..........but I do know where he is and did see him on Richard & Judy show last night - trying to lick his elbow!!!!!!!! He's out with mates tonight as they are all off to Uni on Saturday. I just wonder when this packing will get done - "Don't worry Mum. it's like packing for a holiday" Seems as though I must have gone wrong with No 3 somewhere:beer:

Oh, I'm glad it's not just me with leaky eye syndrome! OH is totally exasperated and not the least bit sympathetic. I'm not actually howling, you understand, just leaky eyes at unpredictable moments! It's weird, because we've not had that easy a time with DS, but boy am I going to miss him! Oh heck, dripping again[0 -
I was crying this morning when the loan forms came through, two lots of fees to pay in full:eek:
Can I change my name please to completly skint....0 -
Hi everyone! Just to say that this thread is sooo useful so picking it up again for 2010; DS off to uni next month. DD went off to uni halls six years ago but didn't like her flat or course so only stayed for first year then transferred back to London (and living at home) to finish her degree. Can't remember her list for halls though, so very useful to have this. Yes, it is a kind of displacement activity but who cares?
And can I just add - in case it helps anyone in the future - she didn't like her first year there and it was pretty grim for me and DH too as she was unhappy - but we did find a solution where she transferried back to London to a very good uni where she could pick up the course in the second year, and she finished with a very high 2.1 and works now! So - and I shall be reminding myself of this if I have to watch a stricken face again as we drive away in the car- it does all turn out right in the end!
