Photo ID

Probably a stupid question but I need photo ID.

Which is the cheapest way to get this?

I assumed provisional driving licence and applied online but wasn't asked for a photo and google isn't being my friend. Does a provisional licence have a photo or did I just waste £35?

Would I be better ordering something like a citizen card?

I have no need for a passport so would rather not spent out on one.

Thanks
Sigless

  • Provisionals does have pictures.

Did you previously have a passport where you said you can use the same photo? Are you sure it didn’t ask you at any point to send an identity document and signed photo?

    Thanks for the reply.

No my passport expired over 4 years ago so I didn't put the number in as I assumed it was too out of date. I applied online and wasn't asked to upload a picture or any other documents.

I'll give them a call tomorrow and make sure I've not messed up the application. Now I know it is photo ID.

Are you certain you applied on the correct website and not one of the companies that claims to do it all for you and ends up costing more?

I think they collect payment (and send you the completed form to sign) before you send them ID. OP, what does it say on the acknowledgement they presumably emailed you?

You could have tried for a Citizen Card?

It depends what mystery purpose the OP has for ID - Citizen Cards aren't as widely accepted as passports or driving licences.

Sorted. Thanks. The email had gone into my spam folder. It says they’ll send me a form to fill in and return with a pic.

Don’t know why I didn’t think to check the spam when I didn’t get email confirmation.

Just check that what you need photo ID for will accept a provisional licence. As some do not.
