  • Why not ay, only live once at the end of the day I suppose you aren't doing any harm by test driving it.

I test drove two of my current cars and bought one unseen.

Previously I've done a couple of test drives and not bought the car because I didn't like it.

Another one the salesman was a bit reluctant and was then surprised when I said I'd buy it. He was really confused when I said I'd like to pay the £28k on my debit card!

My current car dealership also sells Morgan cars and offered a visit to the Morgan Factory. Part of which was a test drive in either an aero or the three wheeler thing.

I chose the aero, I could never have afforded it, but the drive just confirmed my thoughts.

Total hoot to drive but totally impractical in the real world.

I find their first question is always "what's your monthly budget?"... you can see their shoulders drop when you say you're a cash buyer, as they aren't going to get a kickback from the finance!!!

We don't usually have a strict "budget" as we just want value for money...so it's quite a dance around their perception of our affordability!!
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.24% of current retirement "pot" (as at end December 2025)

I have no problem with this and have driven countless Jaguars when they were released on this.... never intended to buy, just curious!
