Buyer asking me to post outside of my dispatch time

I've done this a few times. I mark as dispatched asap. but dont actually dispatch, and warn the buyer i am going to do this. Then on the Thursday I would unmark as dispatched, buy postage and upload tracking. If i get a ding i contact ebay who can see the messages back and forth and they always remove it. Ebay always comment they are happy I am trying to give good customer service to buyers so are happy to remove any dings for this reason
Your system won't work for anyone with a linked postal account if you unmark as dispatched and then buy postage your dispatch date moves to the later date.
If eBay have removed a defect for you for doing this then you were very lucky. The t and cs are clear about dispatch, there's no 'unless buyer requests otherwise' about it, so all you are doing is confirming to eBay that you posted late - and are therefore in line for a late defect. I really wouldn't recommend this as an idea if trying to avoid a late mark.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. WOW
Apologies for slight hijack of thread:o
Many years ago I sold some clothes on eBay and got 100% 5* glowing feedback. I was thinking of trying to sell some now (Windsmoor cashmere, unworn Jacques Vert, Country Casuals, Precis Petite etc) all 1st class quality. However, I'm totally put off by reading this and other threads from sellers.
This sort of issue would never have occurred to me as I've occasionally requested it as a buyer in the past.
Charity shop, along with everything else then:o0 -
A defect for late postage is very serious, just one can put you below standard and make you ineligible for free listings (if you are a private seller) or add a penalty of 4% on your FVFs (business seller). I really don't think it's worth it, and a reasonable buyer will understand.
I had an item showing as overdue for despatch (it wasn't) and when I phoned eBay they said there was a known problem, and if I get a defect to appeal.
Yet another glitch !You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -

I confirmed to the buyer that I'd post on Wednesday after last collection, this way I get the tracking number to put into ebay on Wed but it still doesn't gets collected until Thursday.
Later I enquired at the post office about the last collection time, however, and they said that the Special Delivery can't be posted after last collection, even though the PO stays open for another half an hour? Has anybody come across this before or does it sound like BS and I need to try another post office?
Thank you kindly for the responses0 -
Is this a new thing with defects? I've had buyers ask me to delay sending things until they get back from holiday and I've done it. Never had a defect because of it.0

I didn't know they charged as I've never done a refund.Does it apply if the buyer cancels and you have to refund?0 -

But if a buyer later claims they haven't got the item- me supplying the tracking number to ebay will be pointless as I haven't entered it within the dispatch time, they'd win the case. So I'm considering this as an option, would be no-brainer normally, but it's quite an expensive item.0 -
