Paypal refund issues

Options
I used paypal to pay for flights with Thomas Cook through a 3rd party Last Minute.com. Paypal have refused to help with getting a refund and the paypal account was linked to my bank account not a debit or credit card.

Is there anything else I can do

  • Surely your bank card is linked to paypal not just your account?
It is for me anyway - they quote the last 4 digits of my debit card when making a payment. If so contact your bank's card services department.

PayPal appears to let you do either:
How do I add my bank account to my PayPal account?
How do I add a debit or credit card to my PayPal account?

I may be wrong, but I don't believe you get any protection from your card if you use it via paypal. You only get it if you pay direct.

This is a grey area - he has nothing to lose by putting in a claim.

Other than time, if it's linked to his current account like he says. I haven't linked a debit or credit card to my paypal account (and won't ever), because linking to bank accounts gives you free direct debits for things like halifax/coop/barclays monthly reward requirements.

It might be worth clarifying with lastminute whether the money will be refunded anyway.

One-way or return flight-only bookings, entirely with Thomas Cook Airlines
If you have made a flight-only booking to fly with Thomas Cook Airlines and and are yet to travel, we will request a refund of your ticket. We’ll email you as soon as this has been processed, although please be patient, as this takes at least 60 days.
  • The account is linked direct to my account by direct debit. Last minute have said they will not refund and so have PayPal so not sure if there is anything more I can do

Direct Debit will not cover this.

Last Minute should be refunding this.
