I would love to get a gas fire and surround. It just isn't right not having a fire!
Any recommendations for good companies? Also when is the best time to buy?

The best time to buy is before you get cold.
Sorry, I couldn't resist that.
There are so many different fires on the market, so much can depend on your personal choice & budget.
Most of the big diy stores such as Wickes & B&Q have a reasonable selection of fires & often have special offers on.
If you really want something more traditional and with a bit more character then check out local fire shops.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
