Gas hob not sparking

We have a Siemens gas hob integrated into the worktop and fitted by the previous owners. Normally, I turn the control knob for a hob to turn on the gas, and press the knob down to ignite the gas.
Last week, one of the hobs wouldn't ignite if I press the relevant knob down. The knob feels stiff and doesn't click when pressed. If I turn the gas on for the non-working hob and press one of the other knobs, the gas ignites.
I think it's likely the control itself instead of the electrode. Any ideas on how to proceed?

Sounds like some food or grease has gotten under the control knob. You should be able to pry the knob off and clean under it.0
