Lloyds PPI claim - Phone Call and then branch interview?

  • I have just been called by a man claiming to be from Lloyds wanting to discuss my PPI claim (which relates to a C&G mortgage). I was busy and he said he'd call back later.
Cynical me thinks that if I speak to him I may say something that would give Lloyds a reason not to pay out. I also don't really know if he is actually from Lloyds (he hides his phone number) so it maybe some sort of scam. Any thoughts?

Alternatively, you may say something that gives Lloyds reason to refund.

Your choice whether to speak to him.

Do you intend to tell lies? - if so, avoid the call
If you intend to tell the truth then take the call as it will improve your chances of a correct decision.
  • I’ve yet to receive a decision from Lloyds to my complaint, having had the phone call with the investigator at the end of September. Best give them a call tomorrow.
  • I’ve yet to receive a decision from Lloyds
All lenders were swamped by last minute complaints I'm afraid.

You'll just have to be patient, but no news is generally good news...
  • That’s a good point re the volume of complaints - perhaps I’ll leave it until the New Year, as I’m sure the complaints team are already pretty stretched
  • I work as a case handler(self employed) dealing with lloyds mortgages (c&g) , all the customers we call we use a withheld number, after contacting the customer we asses all the information using complex criterias to make a decision. No, we do not call you to catch you out. If you dont hear back within a few weeks after the various questions it would be best to contact the ppi helpine as there is usually a decison made on the case.(Large fines incur if not)
  • As an update, a letter was sent by Lloyds on 4 October (not received ) advising that the complaint was not upheld. I’ve asked for a copy and will then decide whether to escalate to the FOC. My understanding is that mortgage PPI didn’t tend to fall foul of PPI miselling in the same way that ones for loans were?
