Proof of job interview

Options
I had to tell the jobcentre that I couldn't make my work search meeting as I had a job interview- they're now asking me for proof of interview, what could I give them to prove that I attended?

Thanks in advance :D

    Interview letter?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I have never received an interview letter, but I would expect you would have an email from the company confirming the interview. You could provide that?
  • I have an email inviting me to the interview but it doesn't state a date or time, would the job centre follow this up with the company do you think?

You must have had something giving the date and time of the interview, but from the OP it seems that proof of attendance is required. That should be available through the company where the interview took place.
  • Did you attend the interview?
  • I have found an email with the time of interview on it.

If I supplied this do you think jobcentre would ring the company I interviewed at to see if I attended (can they even do that?) or accept the email as proof in itself?

That will depend on the individual work coach and whether or not they believe it is genuine. Yes, they can ring the company if they do not believe it is genuine.

The process that is followed for failing to attend an appointment when the claimant has attended an interview requires proof to be provided in order to allow good cause so that is why the work coach is asking for proof.

They normally accept the email proof in my experience.
...though they could set you an action to follow up?

I had an interview earlier this week at a parking company (I know I like applying to controversial companies!) who's recruiting department phoned me earlier on the interview day to check I was still attending (that's a good service example) my interview where 2 of the 3 interviewers were newbies to the company themselves !

Can't see a busy Jobcentre making unwelcome calls to busy employers and hogging what for all they know could be operational customer line.

Jobcentres follow processes. If, for example, a customer is asking for help with travel to interview expenses then the jobcentre will require confirmation the customer attended the interview and that the company did not pay expenses. At that point the jobcentre will phone the company as that is the most practicable way to obtain such evidence. I'm not suggesting in this case the OP is claiming expenses, just using this as an example of when the jobcentre will phone a company to obtain the required information.

Unless of course you are spinning a yarn....
