Struggling to remove email account in gmail

If anyone can help I'l be grateful. I added a new gmx email to my gmail on my tablet and 'phone. I had so many problems being blocked and 'wrong credentials' password and linked account problems that I decided to delete the gmx email account. I'm not good enough with technology to fully understand and I really am struggling.

How can I stop my tablet and mobile phone from still asking for credentials for gmx, please, as I have deleted the account on my laptop. Thank you.

Thank you - I am glad of your help. It is a Moto G5 with the gmail app where I receive my Plusnet and Gmail emails. When I tap on gmail I can see my email accounts and the option to add an account. The gmx one (deleted on my laptop) is still there and I keep being asked for credentials - which are always wrong.

I must be making a real mess of things - because I see the gmx email is still on my Samsung Galaxy tab S2 - I thought it had gone! As recently as a few minutes ago I received emails on my tablet and my mobile 'phone again asking me for gmx credentials - server settings etc.

I would assume you go to the GMX web site, where you created the account in the first place and delete it from there.

Not the same phone, but on my Android I open Gmail, Select the 3 horizontal lines (hamburger) at the top left, scroll to and select Settings, select General Settings, tap on the 3 dots in top right, select Manage Accounts, tap on the account you want to remove, tap on email address and a Remove bin appears towards the bottom of the screen.
  • Thanks Le_Kirk. I have done that - logged in to GMX on my laptop and deleted the account there. Unfortunately the problem is that I cannot delete/remove from my tablet or mobile phone - and cannot log in because the credentials are always wrong.

I cannot turn the clock back but I wish I had never opened the new GMX email account!

Thanks - but this is 'strange.' I followed your instructions perfectly and there is now no GMX email account listed. Too scared to hope - but maybe, in the last few minutes, it has sorted itself?

I followed your instructions again on my tablet and the GMX account was there. So, following your instructions, I (think) I have removed the account. That would be good because (embarrassingly) this 'problem' has been driving me mad all afternoon. Hopefully no more 'credentials' messages! Lesson learned.

So far 'all quiet' (no more requests for credentials etc) and it looks as if, once again, I have benefitted greatly from the good help on this forum. Many thanks indeed to all who have helped - much appreciated.
