Handing disability car back early ?

I really need help with I look after my uncle and he is being so twisted he asks me for money for me driving him around so I have said I've had enough I dont want your car driving you about I have my own car now he saying that I will have to pay the damage for the which excess is £300 and to hand the car back it will be another 300 to motability including everything he says illl owe him over £1000 could anyone confirm this please how much in total does it cost to hand his car back and end this I'm the only one who can drive for him I didn't mind doing it now hes being so nasty could anyone help me please

What damage is done to the car? Have you had an accident? if so, was this reported to RSA? Are you a named diver on the insurance to drive the motability car?



It doesn't usually cost anything to hand back a mobility car. The best people to speak to is motability and they will tell him everything he needs to know.

If I'm honest I would park the car outside his house and post the keys through his letter box.

The excess is £300 pounds the contract doesn't actually run out until next year bumper and wing mirror the car is away to get repaired today I but he says I'm responsible I really have no idea of how to hand the car back he doesn't want it anymore

If you were driving the car then i'm afraid you are responsible for paying the excess, there's no way around that. I'm assuming you were insured to drive it, you didn't answer that question.



Once the repairs are done then he will be able to contact motability to have the car returned.

He/she hasn't said how the damage was caused either.

If you want advice then you need to give all of the details otherwise no one can advise you correctly.

Firstly, are you the named driver? Have you seen the insurance document? My excess for Motability is £100, but I have a long record of driving, with only one accident (when someone drove out of an entry and crashed into me - I was driving along the main road and wasn't at fault). If you are at fault, you will have to pay the excess.



If your uncle hands back the car, he might be charged up to £250 because it is before the end of his contract. However, Motability do not always charge. As the reason is having no named driver, he can ask them if they will waive the fee. They are usually very reasonable, and I would be surprised if he was charged.


Even if the excess is £300, and he is chargged to return the car, that still only comes to £550 - your figures add up to £600. Even that is not near £1000, so I'm not sure where that figure comes from.
