Replacing sink waste question

Hi.
My current basin has a click-clack waste (push down type) that has broken again for the last time. I'm at the stage where I just want to replace it with a standard plug on chain type affair.
I've seen a few around, this being a good example.

However... the current basin has a 22mm waste hole at the top. And specifically, I can't seem to find any sort of overflow cover where the threaded bolt at the end of the plug's chain goes into.
Is there something I have missed? Or is it the case where I have to either leave the chain free and flowing or if I definitely want it fixed, invest in a new sink basin?

Any problems with it? The click clack wastes seem to be utterly useless.Mortgage when started: £186500 (2 year fixed when taken out in 2016)

It can be a palaver to fit anew waste. How about a replacement plug?

We fitted the rotative one about 8 years ago in the main bathroom, no problems with it at all.0

Amazing that it seems like such a simple thing. To be honest, I'm pretty sure that all this new fangled stuff is just crap to begin with. Feels annoying that you're stuck with it.
I did think to just replace out the basin entirely but it seems that if you have a single mixer tap, a standard flippin plug hole and drain plug isn't an option unless you're happy leaving the chain just dangle.
How is such a simple thing such a head + wall moment?Mortgage when started: £186500 (2 year fixed when taken out in 2016)
