Eversmart Customers - Utilita Stalling on Credits?

Hi

I just wanted to get some feedback from any Eversmart customers with a credit balance at the time of their demise.

Having downloaded my statements before the Eversmart website went off line I discovered I've amassed a credit balance of £160.

Since 18th September when I became a customer of Utilita I've contacted them three times to get confirmation of my credit balance. Each time they tell me they're 'still waiting for Eversmart customer records to be sent over' even though they already had my personal details and MPN since day one.

Utilita are not competitive and I want to switch asap, but I'm not comfortable to do this until they confirm my credit balance is in agreement with my last Eversmart statement.

Is anyone else in the same boat?

Thanks

"I had a credit balance and I just used the DD guarantee to reclaim the money through my bank. If KPMG contact me in a few months to ask that I pay them the few quid difference, that's fine by me, but I don't see why I should be out of pocket for months while KPMG and Utilita work out the figures."

I saw this post, contacted my bank, within a few hours the money was in my bank account.

I saw this post, contacted my bank, within a few hours the money was in my bank account.

Thanks for your reply, I had assumed the DD guarantee only covered unauthorised or incorrect debits. As I obviously agreed to the DD monthly amount that led to building up a credit balance I didn't think I could get a resolution this way.

Edit: Just called my bank, they will only refund multiples of the monthly DD payment but that's close enough to my credit balance, will worry about a few quid either way later. Thanks again!

have you checked that the meter reading on you last Eversmart bill is not an estimate but is near enough the same as the actual reading on the meter.

There are a lot of people who think they are in credit because they don.t actually have an up to date meter reading
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
  • Just wanted to hear of any other ex Eversmart customers having their smart meter switched by Utilita to prepayment without notice or consultation. Switch happened whilst away, returned to find no power - soggy freezer etc. Not happy. No wonder Utilita ranked 38th out of 39 for customer service by Citizens Advice

lucky you... I've not even been given a way to contact Utilita to ask about credit. I know i had over £200 but I've heard nothing and not been asked for a closing meter reading.

Hi, I received a registration email from Utilita on 1st October with a custom link to their website. I had to set a password and then got straight into my account, my personal details and MPN were already there. You can also enter a meter reading and date you took it. However, there's no information about Eversmart credit balance.

If you didn't get this email you could contact them, but expect a 48hour wait for a reply.

That's outrageous! It's one of the reasons I've resisted having one installed...

You make a good point, fortunately Eversmart had persistently overestimated my usage, even after giving them quarterly true reads.

Interesting that - I used to give them a reading every month and got an accurate bill three days later (all of which I have downloaded for posterity)

All I've had is a text message so I gave them a call to get my customer number...which then doesn't work on the website. Not a good start
