It's a rule that allows people to camp on their own land for holidays and short breaks, not necessarily in a caravan either.0 -
I don’t understand what BlackApple means by off grid in these circumstances? Suppose he gets planning permission for a caravan. Then, he'll have an address just like anybody else. He’ll pay council tax and income tax. He can have all the utilities connected. What’s off grid about that?
I imagine that caravans are cold in winter and hot in the summer, plus rather cramped compared to a house. If you have the land, a secondhand caravan is cheap, of course, but they are obviously not as well built as a house. So you’ll have to replace it occasionally.
Plus, I cannot see most councils granting permission, anyway.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Who classed it as condemned? Could you move into the "house" and use the caravan just for cooking, the bathroom, and .... a bedroom?0
