Car personal contract hire mileage

I've had 5 cars on PCH, the last 3 from Honda and in all cases the mileage has been quoted in the adverts and on the contract as annual. The Honda dealership I got the current car from still advertises its prices as mileage p.a.
When I came to extend the contract beyond the original 2 years and was asked the mileage I found the price had gone up and that the contract had the 8k mileage stated as contract mileage and not annual, I.e. 4k p.a. resulting in a hefty excess mileage charge.
Where in the process the mileage changed from p.a. to contract was never highlighted and has never been the case before. Ok, I should probably have read that part of the contract more carefully but this felt like sharp practice.
In emails to the dealers at the start requesting quotes neither myself nor the dealer specified mileage as either p.a or contract but my past experience and the dealer's adverts always used p.a.
Do I have grounds for claiming mis-selling or have I just been sloppy?!

Finance agreements come with a 14 day cooling off period for this reason - so that you have time to read the terms and become acquainted with them and cancel if you find its not what you expected.
Was it buried in legalese or relatively the same prominence as other core terms? Such as monthly cost, total cost, car details etc.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
The thing with these contracts is they are all bespoke to the clients needs. They may be advertised as P.A but this can be changed as you have now found out.
The time to do the due diligence is before signing the contract not after.
You could tell them your impression was P.A as that's what it's always been and try to get them to compromise due to the history you gave with them. There is not a great deal you can do about it though as it's in black and white with your signature on it.0 -
EVERY contract of this time I have ever seen is annual mileage, I'm not so sure it is that cut and dried. I wouldn't be happy.0

I'm probably splitting hairs but "contract mileage" was not, to my mind, defined, i.e as p.a. or for the duration of the contract.
I realise it's probably down to me but it was the opaque change from p.a. as per the advertisement and my previous experience, which was always p.a.0
