AA car insurance - need to declare optional extra modifications?

    My everyday car is 22yo. It has alloys on that were factory-standard on certain specs of the same model, and optional on this spec (which would have had steels and trims as standard).

    How I'm meant to know whether they were factory-fit or not is another question entirely. Or even whether it's particularly relevant, since they're the same size with the same tyre size...

    My car has a sticker under the bonnet listing all the option codes fitted at manufacture. Not sure how widespread this practise is?

    You can get the original build information from the VIN number.


    You or insurance company on block can take registration number offered by some sites, pay the premium and display vehicle details.
    Also you can do an HPI check where 80 forms of data are listed.
