I have a small craft business, along with a live.co.uk account for emails. I have started to get 10-20 spam emails every day to this email address. They do go directly into the spam folder. i do know that the email was pwned (checked that site) but was wondering is there anyway to try and reduce the amount or is there any more secure email provider that I could swap over too. Just concerned about customer emails being comprised.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Your email showing on the pwned list just shows them that it was active at the time it was stolen from whichever service was comprised from, because that email would have used to sign up to the service.
Unfortunately junk email is a fact of live with email these days so all you can do is continue to filter it out, it tends to go in waves and you'll have periods where you get none and another period where you're practically drowning in it.
Or change email address and don't give it to anybody or any service ever. But that sort of defeats the whole point of email somewhat...0 -

My own email address was pwned following a security breach with an on-line supplier that I used. My ISP's spam filter collects a lot of the crap but a lot of stuff still gets through. The only option may be to bite the bullet and get a new email address. You could try mail.co.uk, the standard service is free (supported by advertising) otherwise it's £12 per year. It also offers alias addresses so you can see where spam email is originating from. I use it for some of my on-line activity like ebay, gumtree, and one off internet purchases.0 -
I much prefer a business to have its own email address not a generic one.
Is it just me that thinks a generic email address for a business is a business that i dont really want to use if possible?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
The sensible way to avoid most spam is to have an on-line enquiry form, rather than a web page link to “craftshop@whatever.mailaddress.com” which is an open invitation to spam bots. You will see plenty of these contact forms on commercial web sites for the larger companies. A second best solution is to obscure your email link by posting it as an image or as text which uses {at} {dot}, etc.
There is little you can do in terms of a customer who has been infected by a virus which sends junk to all their email addresses.0 -
Thank you for your suggestions, at the moment i dont have my own web site, as changing the provider as i have been busy packing our house up! The other place i am on, sends orders by email to the business, just worried about that info being compromised. I will look at air cooled suggestion once we have moved.0
