Praise - Carnival Cruise Line

We recently went on a 6-day cruise from New York to Bermuda. Due to hurricane Humberto, we were informed on embarkation that they would have to re-route the cruise to Charleston, South Carolina, and then head on to Bermuda for just one day, not the two intended. They also offered us 25% of the price of the cruise back in 'future cruise credits', valid for 18 months.
We were very happy with this, knowing that cruise itineraries are not guaranteed, and that Carnival were not obliged to compensate us for changing the route due to weather conditions beyond their control.
After leaving Charleston, we set out for Bermuda, but encountered such heavy seas that the captain realised we would struggle to reach Bermuda, and had no alternative but to cruise slowly back to New York. To our amazement and delight, they also offered us an unbelievable 100% back in future cruise credits.
Under their terms and conditions - which most companies use to justify no refunds - they could have just said 'Sorry, not our fault', but - after feeding and entertaining us for 6 full days - they still gave us all our money back (to be spent on a future cruise with them, obviously). And the sea conditions and weather on board were absolutely fine once we veered away from the tail of the hurricane.
Excellent customer service from the company, with whom we have already made a repeat booking for next year (and have already received our rebate).
Norwegian Cruises could learn something from them:

Nice one. I know some will not like it being in future cruise credits but it means the cruiseline can offer a high value reward to the customer while mitigating their own actual costs. Well done Carnival!
PS: A useful moneysaving tip. If you hold 100 shares in Carnival you can get additional oinboard credit every time you cruise

Royal Caribbean have a similar scheme
