Hi All,
Just wanted to say that the Pigs/Cows/Penguins etc look great - really love the chick (how cute??? :rotfl:).
I have no idea how much is in my Terrimundi. I can make out a couple of £2 coins, and I am sure that there is a note in there somewhere - I am looking through the slot.
From now on, I will not look at it. Hopefully though, it will be too heavy to pick up.
Take care, and good luck to all the challengers.Debts at the start of my journey - about £23,000 lightbulb moment 01.03.2007 (1st payment to CCCS)..Debt Free Date 25.06.2013 Deposit savings £17,000/£30,0000 -

Hi Guys
What a brilliant menagerie of creatures! Great idea of the banner with them all on, Nykmedia. Stuntman, your pig was well worth the wait, he's awesome:beer:
By the way(and you probably already know this anyway) if you paint the finished pot with poster paint or similar, you can give a lovely shine to the pot (and give it some protection and make it stronger) by painting on a coat or 2 of PVA diluted with water after the coloured paint has dried. When dry it gives a varnish effect.
A few years ago I worked with 'disaffected' teenage boys in a special unit and one of my tasks was to teach them basic art and craft skills:eek: . We made something similar to the money pots you've all, made, but they didn't put legs and ears on but just left them round(with a flatter bottom) and painted them black and white to resemble footballs. The blind leading the blind describes this part of my job:o ( part of the curriculum that no-one else would do!) so I was chuffed that this was one of the more successful projects I did with them. Several of them even gave them to brothers as Christmas presents:j
Just mentioned it in case you have sons who might like the idea of making one to keep their own savings in(but feel a bit too old for chicks and pigs). Can't start money-saving habits too early in my book.
Good luck, all:beer:0 -
I have a confession,
There is a probelm with my head- its not quite going to plan. I may have to change it into an animal (of sorts) and then start again.
I really hope I can have it ready for unveiling New Years Eve.

tALking of doind paper mache with teenagers. DH did this with the Explorer Scouts group he co-runs a couple of weeks ago. They are mixed group of 15 - 17 yr olds and they really enjoyed it, and have all got savings banks to show for it. We should have a papier mache thread somewhere!!!:j
Really ought to go and get showered and dressed - yes I know its 10.30 but this is my first saturday off from teaching this year and I had a lie in :T :T
ps PAP it may take longer than 24 hours to dry !!!0 -
I'd be up for a paper mache thread but I wouldn't know where to put it! LOL I'm already in the 'start a cottage industry' thread and have made these for a couple of people, so it could, theoretically, go there but not everyonw wants to part with them once completed. Umm... what about the thrift threads? I'm aiming to do handmade pressies next year so I stay within budget in the 'live on 4k' challenge. Haven't had time to rummage through the forums for a crafts & hobbies thread yet but I think they are more geared towards money saving and earning in here. Any suggestions? Our household is on to bank 4 since starting this challenge - Penny the Penguin. Cash Cow is a pressie and Little Pig is a pressie... I'm off to rake for somewhere to start a paper mache thread now & it's YOUR fault!! LOLI reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
