    cowsm.jpgCash Cow ~ Phil the Pig PigSm.jpg

My preferred paste recipe for the creation of unusual sealed money pots/pigs/cows

Mix one cup plain flour with one cup water
Bring 2 cups water to the boil
Slowly stir in the cup of paste
Simmer until it looks like paste
Bung it in a plastic tub and sit it in a basin of cold water to cool it down
Coat your strips of newspaper/magazines/bank statements in the paste and stick to the balloon.

I use cut up egg cartons for feet and snouts, cut down toilet roll inner tubes stuffed with scrunched up papers for legs, nilk carton tops for feet/noses etc and cut up cardboard or paper for tails / ears etc.

The above paste recipe is used for the simple fact that the kids tend to stick their hands in their mouths and flour/water paste is not toxic.

My finished articles are painted with emulsion or poster paints, whichever you have lying around the house, but you could miss out the painting by making the last layer of paper from the same colour or by cutting out shapes, like the the OP did when making 'Spot the Pig'. Phil the Pig is pink emulsion and cash cow is white emulsion with black poster paint.

Make sure your final creation is dried out solid before you cut a slot in it and burst the balloon, otherwise you'll end up with a soggy heap :rotfl:

Hope this helps and please leave us a photo on here to see.

I've combined this challenge with my 'start a cottage' industry challenge and have now got a completely sealed wooden box made from off-cuts plus Christmas gifts for family members - mum's getting a cash cow LOL (Hope she isn't reading this!! )

Now what is paste mean??? LMAO (slowly stir in a cup of paste) dunno what it means haha
