Inviting comments on energy suppliers

Guys

In Dec 19, my fixed term for G and E ends so I am starting my search for new cheaper supplier. I do this a lot on car/house ins and in the past, energy.

What I have never done (right or wrongly) is look at companies that I know nothing about, so when I found some cheaper quotes this morning on the MSE comparison tool, these names are all cheaper than mine.

Avro
Pure Planet
B.Gas (who I know of course).

I know I will get a mixed bag of comments, but all welcome.

There are threads on this forum for every supplier you have heard from - and a good many others you haven't.

CEC gives comments on service as well as charges.

Personally whoever I've been with I've not had any real issues - at present with Flow (soon to be Octopus) for Elec and Zog (for Gas) - both are good at billing but I always give readings - not keen on Zog's website.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

    As above .
Also Zog for gas , not bothered about basic web site .
    Monthly meter readings always .

BG put meter readings in every month likewise with about ten other suppliers . No problems even with the one that shut down .

You could do far worse than Zog, easily one of the better smaller companies. They only supply gas at this time (they do have an electricity licence though).

Outfox The Market seems to hold the record to going from best thing to sliced bread to "what the hell was I thinking?" in the shortest amount of time. They seem to come out overall cheapest but you pays your money and you takes your choice.

Pure Planet are good but all interaction with them is via app/web. No call centre. Only join if you can cope with that - many appear to join and then complain endlessly about that point.

Zog are great, currently with them.

Another one for Zog gas, never had any trouble with them, bit of a head scratching with the daft Planet type names they give their plans but apart from that OK

You do not need to get G & E from same supplier, it often is cheaper to get separate suppliers
My elct is with Peoples Energy, good prices & ethics for me and my only contact with CS was dealt with promptly

Well what do you expect when the main company's called Zog? Zog was the name of the home planet of Zig & Zag, after all :)

Missed a trick with Jupiter though.

Have a look at their customer service ratings. Avoid the terrible twins, Outfox The Market and Eco7.
  • We have been with Outfox the market for a while and have no complaints. I know they have a poor customer service record but have not had any problems with them. As our fixed deal shortly comes to and end I have dione some research and foiund nothing cheaper. Am just wondering whether to go for another fixed deal or the cheaper variable one. Any suggestions
