The 17 Year Goal ....

  • Reviewed this month's budget and it doesn't look like we can put any extra to the mortgage this month, instead choosing to cash flow the materials for the DIY jobs we are doing to the house this month rather than take it from the pot of savings allocated to fixing up the house; this will hopefully give us a little bigger budget for when we get to doing the kitchen (Mrs Want2BeFree will like that).
  • Another payday has been and gone. Automatically paid my self mandated £237.85 overpayment and the required £1012.15 payment so that is £1250 paid this month.

After reviewing this month's budget we have surplus £1000! Having now lived in the house a few months our ambitions for what we want to do to the house have grown; full set of doors and windows, new dormer and roof alterations, and a new conservatory too!! With this in view we have decided to up our cash savings over the next few months and begin the works in the summer time, hopefully being able to cashflow all the work and not needing to borrow more money. So to that extent £500 is going to our cash savings, £250 to my S&SISA, and the final £250 to the mortgage.

In other news; I had to spend sometime overseas in Jan, so will receive some extra pay in my pay packet at the end of Feb. Also I made some good share trades this month and grew my S&SISA by 5.959% in January alone (doubt I'll ever repeat that).

In summary: we have had the mortgage 75 days and have overpaid a total of £1813.55
