Extractor cooker hood with no vent

I've recently bought a new kitchen and had an extractor cooker hood fitted, however due to the placement it is not ducted to vent externally. Carbon filters to remove odours are pretty standard and easy to buy. Can't imagine they remain effective for too long, though.
