VAT Return - Company DISSOLVED

Hi

I need a bit of an advice here.

My company was dissolved in Dec 18. - I missed the filling of April 2017 VAT return and i was not trading during that time.

I had some Paye Debt which i was paying to HMRC, so when i contacted HMRC regarding that paye debt i was told that HMRC has opened an assessment for VAT April 2017. I understand it needs to be filled but how can this be done when company is dissolved?
I have spoken to my ex accountant who was managing accounts for this company he is clueless about this.

Can one of the experts please advise on this ?

Thank you.

  • There is nothing that can be done. The company has been dissolved. It no longer exists, so there is no longer any obligation for it to file anything. If HMRC are chasing you for the return, you need to simply tell them that the company is dissolved.
