Hi,
I had a loan with Halifax in 1992 and we paid PPI on it. Halifax have confirmed I paid PPI but have rejected my complaint as I made an error as to whom my employer was. It was a long time ago and yes now I’ve looked up some paperwork, I was wrong. I said I was employed by the Firebrigade when Infact it was the MOD ( firebrigade was the following year).
I don’t understand the relevance of this though. I thought employment was only relevant if you had been self employed or a contract worker ( and therefore one of the exclusions of PPI).
Or are they saying if when you took the loan out you had enough income/savings to pay the loan on cases of sickness or unemployment then that Could be miss-selling? It’s such a long time ago I have no proof of wages, perks of the job so I’m not sure if it’s worth appealing. They presumably have this in the original application form as they noticed my error re employment ?
Confused 🙄

It will have been rejected because you didn't have any employee benefits which would have rendered the PPI pointless.
In other words, you had need for the PPI and it was not mis-sold.0 -
Thank you.
But what about the fact I did have employee benefits with the MOD. I did make a mistake with my employer but both MOD and fire brigade had employee benefits - plus of course my wife worked full time as well, we had savings and other income so had the means to repay the loan without PPi?
Do you think it’s worth providing my correct emmployment details and ask them to reconsider ?0 -
