Horizon Parking taking names of blue badge holders

Fruitcake touched on this earlierThis doesn't even touch on disabled people who do not have a blue badge but are harassed by parking scammers because they are required to do something that able bodied motorists are not. This is another breach of the EA 2010.
The blue badge scheme does not apply in private car parks, and not everyone with a disability that affects their mobility/means that they need to use a disabled bay/parking provision as part of a reasonable adjustment will have a blue badge.
A prosecution/action against a supermarket and/or a supermarket manager over the actions of its/his/her agents would be welcome, and i'm sure that if such things were to start happening bodys such as Unison would see to it that PPCs were effectively castrated ( by cutting their cables/cameras off) where they are allowed to infest car parks. From the Plain Language Commission:

UPDATE:
Horizon have confirmed that the attendants should not be taking down personal details of blue badge holders. They will removed all personal data.
Sainsburys reply was that they were taking personal details because there was fraud. The have confirmed no personal details will be taken.
A lot of customers must have complained about the new parking policy as the store has gone back to 1 hour free parking with £5 for 2 hours parking refunded with store purchase.
Blue badge holders are entitled to free parking when registering vehicle registration with attendant. They take down the blue badge number and vehicle number plate. Which many hospitals do too for free parking as well which i don't have a problem with. This means that blue badge holders don't need to purchase a ticket from the machines.
Thank you all for your replies.0 -
well done
I have no problem with that scenario either , badge number and VRM details, its harvesting any other data I have a problem with, especially as they have no legal authority to do so and the BPA CoP forbids a private parking company or its operatives from passing themselves off as the authorities
people like Social Services who work for the council, plus the police etc , have the authority to inspect and possibly confiscate blue badges, if used incorrectly or fraudulently (not Horizon employees)
its knowing when to stop and how to ensure confidentiality, that comes with GDPR training0 -

Guess what you're coming back to!Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

That's all very well, but do you have to do this on every visit, if so, how accessible is the attendant? Do you have to wander around the car park looking for him? It might be that he's somewhere in the opposite direction to the way you're going to look for him, and he'll get to your car before you find him.
Guess what you're coming back to!
this was one reason why I registered my vehicle with ASDA head office , with proof of the BB , you would hope that they understand the GDPR0 -
Never knew that Sainsbury's were so stupid. For goodness they are only retailers selling food and not the law
I'd be suprised it it was Sainsbury's policy. More that one store with an idiot making decisions. And maybe customer relations trying badly to smooth it over and pretend it was legit.0 -

I would be interested to know what the original planning approval said about parking times/charges. I might be wrong, but my suspicious nature makes me think it was not Sainsbugs idea to change this.
This is usually done by the parking scammers to generate more scamvoices.
If the times/charges have been changed in breach of the original planning approval then complaints to the council should be made.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -

It's threads like this that make me glad that I never pay a single parking charge in any PPC scumco carpark [excluding barrier exit]....and I urge others to do the same [assuming you're comfortable dealing with this vermin and its faeces].0
