    Scammers are, by their very nature, criminals hoping to deceive people in order to deprive them of their money.
    Any request for an upfront fee in order to get "free money" should always be rejected and people should also always refuse to pay for anything with untraceable Amazon vouchers or by Bank transfer.

    I'm always amazed that people are still taken in by any cold calls.

    I still get calls from "Microsoft" telling me my "Windoze compooter" is relaying error messages to them! :D Leaving aside the fact that I personally use an Apple device, this scam has been so widely publicised over many years that it is beyond belief that people still fall for it.

    Likewise these PPI scams still going the rounds.
