still finalising my late mums estate...
Sold some shares she owned in the commonwealth bak of australia; they've issued a cheque for the proceed payable 'to the estate of XXXXX'
I am the named administrator (my name is on the grant of probate) but the bank I am using (nationwide) will not accept payment of this cheque into my bank account
I'm loathe to go back to the issuer as they are in australia and everything takes a long time to sort (via post)
Does anyone have any suggestions how I can get this cheque cashed without going back to the issuer
PS No solicitor involved I've done it DIY

Would you be able to open an executor account? I did that when I administered my father's estate (one of the financial institutions involved would only pay the monies into an executor account). It was very easy to do (I opened one with NatWest for what it is worth).0

You may find it easiest to open a savings account in the name of the executors. Many banks won't touch executor (current) accounts.0

i am the executor
But do you have an executor's account?
The exor account is precisely for the purpose of collecting sums due to the estate of xxxx.
The exor is administering the estate.0 -
