nationwide flex account and credit card

Options
Hi,
I have a nationwide flex account, a variety of savings accounts and more recently a nationwide credit card. I can transfer any amount of money I have in the accounts around as much as I want at anytime online (this may help answer the question posed earlier which made me think of this). I cannot seem to pay my nationwide credit card online by transferring money from my flex account to the credit card. Am I missing something?

I pay all credit cards online and don't want to bother with cheques or going into a branch. I also like to vary what I pay each month so don't want to go down the DD route. I know I am being picky but I think I wrongly assumed that it would be easy to pay my nationwide CC since I have my current account there.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You are doing something wrong. I can pay into my NW CC on line from my flex account and a.n.other bank current account.

Send a message to NW help, they usually respond promptly.

  • Thanks. I thought something was up with it as nationwide are normally good with all that. I'll get onto that.

No you are not missing anything. You cannot directly transfer money from your Flex Account to your credit card account. The only way to do it is to set up a bill payment just like for any other external payment.

The system also has it included as an internal transfer, under Payments & Transfers. For Payment category, you can choose Another Nationwide account, just as when you want to transfer money to another Nationwide account that doesn’t belong to you. Then, for Nationwide account type, choose Credit Card.

When transferring between, say, two FlexAccounts in different names, you can select for the transfer to happen instantly. I’ve no idea if this is the case when transferring from a FlexAccount to a Nationwide credit card. If it can be made to happen instantly, I don’t know if the system will pick up what you’re trying to do, if you enter the sort code, account number and reference all manually.

Yes its also in the drop down list on the Pay Bills or Transfer Money tab under Payments and Transfers don't know if this is an instant transfer. I set mine up as a bill payment via the Manage arrangements tab which takes 3 days to arrive in the CC account.

I tried this before posting the original thread but I couldn't find credit card in the drop down list. I'm sure I'll work something out from all this information.

    Thanks

You've actually got the credit listed among your accounts I assume - appearing down the left hand side and on the 'my accounts' screen?

And to confirm - once you succeed setting this up - although your payment isn't 'instant' it does have 'same day' value (that is it appears on your credit card transactions with the same date as you paid it but only updated overnight and therefore appears a day after)
