Old gas boiler insurance

We have a Volkera compact 29HE combi boiler about 12 years old. At it's last service under BG homecare the engineer said the spares were no longer made for this.
BG have just sent my renewal quote for boiler and controls only, unlimited call outs £60 a time, one free service per year about £15 per month but if spares are no longer being made they will come out and say sorry no spares but looking on line there are a lot of spares available.
In this case with a money saving head on it would not be worth it to renew with BG, if it fails get an local engineer to fix it.
Looks like boiler cover is only worth it with a newish boiler

Spares usually are available but they want their policy to be as economic to them as possible so they'll push you into buying a new boiler or charge you a premium.
I had a similar issue with a major boiler manufacturer's extended warranty. The engineers lie, the insurance companies who back them lie.

They always try this tale about 'parts no longer available'. It's to scare you into buying a new boiler. I bet if you look on ebay, you'll find all the parts for your boiler there, and can point that out if anyone tries to say otherwise.0

How many times have you had to call them out to repair the boiler in the last 12 years ?
I suspect you have paid well over the top once you add up the annual premium plus the £60 per call fee. A boiler service is around £80 in these parts for a standard combi.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0
