They're asking did you have any other means of paying off the debt without the PPI i.e. did you need the PPI.
If your work benefits, sick pay, savings were good, you didn't need it, if you had a medical condition that meant they wouldn't pay because it was on their list of exclusions, then they will uphold your complaint.
If you had none of these, they will reject.

I am really sorry to sound very slow....but I didn't quite understand some of your post. Apoligies.

If your work benefits, sick pay, savings were good, you didn't need it - they were all these things, so were we missold?

We had no medical condition on their list of exclusions

Why would they uphold the complaint if we did have a medical condition but reject if not?
  • Because the medical condition may have meant you couldn't have claimed, so you would have a valid complaint.

Possibly, that's why the Bank are requesting you send them documentary proof of these benefits. They won't uphold the complaint simply because you say you had exceptional employment benefits, though!

So that avenue of complaint is closed to you.

The banks built up a database of employer benefits over the PPI complaining years. If you claim you have employer benefits that do not match their database or they have no record of your employer benefits, then they will usually ask you to supply proof of them.

Unfortunately, many people lie about their benefits (or if we are generous, they are mistaken). Hence why evidence is asked.
