Morning all! Well the bed and mattress went to the recycling center, where the skips were insanely full, a bit of what I threw over the side ended up on the floor or in the wrong bin. We cut the outer layer off and peeled it back to reveal the springs with their covering. Interesting to see how it was constructed, it was basically spring covered with that bluey black mix of fabric smashed together, with two layers of firm flat kapok style material, with another layer of softer kapok and the covering. I folded the springs and cover and tied them with a bit of bias I had hanging around and in the bin it went.
I didn't do any veg prepping, that will come this afternoon after I take the OH for his follow up colonoscopy.
I did however fix the shower. The PRD [pressure relief device] blew when I used it the day before we went to eales last week, so I ordered one on the internet and it was waiting when we got back. Very easy to fit too, just took the cover off the shower and unscrewed a couple of things, replace and screw back in. Took the opportunity to descale the head and tubing too.
Which reminds me, we either need a big bottle of cheap water or a filter for the jug. The water here is so hard I was taking two 5ltr bottles back to Wales and filling and bringing home. I was spoilt by the water when I was there, it's so lovely and soft and nothing like a glass straight from the tap.
Today I am going to go through clothes upstairs and be ruthless about whats going out and what's staying - in between chopping celery for light relief :)

RosyRed. I put a ceramic heater in our downstairs toilet that uses electric [ I put the cable through the wall to an electric point outside the toilet and used smaller conduit to cover. Is that an option? TA, enjoy your meandering after all the ahrd work washing windows! camelot, looks like it was a weekend of washing windows by osmosis of the written word :) redruby, congrats on your determination, mine has definitely fallen by the wayside recently..Scarlet, have you tried A*da? They had quite a few in there when I was looking, but I eneded up with a mans one thats bright orange on the inside which the OH has already earmarked for himself...Gers, good to hear you're resting, not so good about your mother, hope she reaquires her get up and go. Good luck at the dentitsts too.Speky, good luck with the job application, sounds intriguing!
Chin up! Stand proud! Manic Monday!

    Morning all,

Have developed the bad habit of sitting watching Netflix with DD1, wasn't in bed until almost 2am, very tired this morning, slept until 9.30 and still feel tired......I promise myself that I will be in bed before 9 tonight !!

No rain yesterday, I was on dinner duty, we had ham, cabbage, cauliflower cheese, potatoes and fruit for pudding.....there was also Victoria sponge .

No rain today so far, washing will go on airers as not sure that we will stay rain free.

DD3 is working from home today as she is having a new fridge delivered to her new house and needs to be there.

Think that we will go for a walk in a bit......I really need to loosen up as my arthritis is painful.

    Happy Monday

The horrendous rain has now swept eastward so Glasgow is bright and sunny again.

I've been to the pharmacy, the tip and two shops, fed DM and watered her too and fed myself. Very shortly I'm heading to the dentist for an hours' appointment so I've dosed myself up ready for sitting so long.

Hello all, I'm a bit late today, but I do have a note :rotfl:.

It's raining here, but it's that heavy drizzle that seems to get into your bones.
This morning Mr Fix It went to his surgery to make an appointment, I called in Tes*o for bread and tomato soup ( must always have a tin in the cupboard in case of a crisis :D ) and I then had an emergency dental appointment. I was in there nearly 2hrs but the upshot is a wisdom tooth extraction, which is now scheduled for tomorrow morning :( ...... wish me luck !

This afternoon I shall sort the ironing basket, clean out the fridge and put the bins out ready for tomorrow's collection.
Tea tonight will be bacon and egg etc. nothing too taxing.
Take care all and hugs to anyone in need.
    nan xx

Taff, thanks for that idea,we did consider it but the pipes are so close we thought it would be a shame not to have it running off the central heating.Friends have a ceramic one in their porch though and are very happy with it . Hope you manage to chuck a load of clothes out :) x
